Privacy Policy

How Wall Tie Survey NI collects, stores and deletes the personal details you send through this website.

Wall Tie Survey NI runs walltiesurveyni.com, a website where owners of houses and other buildings in Northern Ireland can book a wall tie survey at a set price. Any personal information you hand over while using the site is managed by Wall Tie Survey NI, which makes it the data controller for that information. This notice covers the kinds of detail involved, the reasons we hold them, who else gets to see them, how long they stay on file and the control you keep over them.

We only hold what you choose to enter into the booking form. In most cases that means your name, a phone number or email address, the address of the building to be inspected and any notes you add, perhaps about horizontal cracks in mortar joints, bowing brickwork or roughly when the property was built. Submissions pass through Basin, a form handling service that receives your entries and forwards them to us. It helps if you stick to details that are useful for arranging the survey, so please leave out health matters and anything about neighbours, tenants or other individuals.

Your booking details are used to arrange the wall tie survey you have asked for. The inspection is carried out by a separate specialist firm, so we send your details on to the specialist who does the work. That firm will then reach you itself, by phone or email, to agree access to the property. From the moment it receives your details, the specialist is accountable for how it handles and protects them under its own data protection duties. Your information is never sold, and it is not passed to advertisers or to anyone with no part in your booking.

Data protection law expects every use of personal information to rest on a recognised legal ground. When you book a survey, we rely on the processing being needed to carry out the booking you have requested. Keeping a brief record of bookings and answering any follow-up messages relies on our legitimate interest in running the site properly. Wherever we depend on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time, although doing so does not undo processing that took place beforehand.

Booking information is held only while it still has a job to do, for example completing the survey arrangements, responding to later questions about that booking or meeting legal and accounting obligations. Once no such reason remains, the details are deleted or stripped of anything that identifies you.

Under UK GDPR you have several rights over your personal information. You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, and you can have anything inaccurate or incomplete put right. You may request that your details be erased, object to particular ways we use them, or ask us to limit their use while a concern is looked into. To use any of these rights, contact us through the enquiry form. If you feel your request has not been handled properly, you are entitled to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Cookies are small files a website can place on your device. Where this site uses them, their role is to help pages display correctly and the booking form work as it should. Your browser settings let you block or clear cookies whenever you wish, though some parts of the site may not behave normally if you do.

For any question about this notice or about how your details have been handled, please get in touch using the enquiry form and set out what you would like to know.
